What’s a girl to do when she is planning a baby shower for her best friend? For a woman who loves champagne and glitz, and for a couple that loves entertaining, fine dining, and non-cliché baby style. The obvious choice was a champagne baby shower brunch! I struggled with the idea of a champagne shower because I didn’t want to tease her with something she could not enjoy. So, I put on my thinking cap and found a mocktail that was equally delicious. I initially planned for the shower to have a crisp, mixed metallic theme as the mommy-to-be did not want to know the baby’s gender. Once she revealed she was having a baby boy, however, the shower design was taken up a notch by incorporating masculine touches.
The Great Gatsby is the perfect theme for anyone that loves champagne, glitz, and a good time. All of that along with the fact that the guest of honor is expecting a dapper little gentleman of her own! The invitation was custom designed and included art deco and bubbly details. It was adorned with a sequined bowtie and enclosed in a tuxedo inspired jewelry box. A shiny gold shipping envelope was used as a final glamorous touch. Guests were even asked to wear a suit & tie like Mr. Gatsby himself! The guest of honor and expectant mother dressed to par as well.
The event space needed to have a light and airy feel with sparkles and shine similar to a flute of bubbly. 51fifteen Cuisine & Cocktails came to mind as the perfect space, and the chef was eager to bring the custom menu to life. The tablescape included mirror-topped tables, gold and silver candlesticks crowned with gerber daisies, terrariums adorned with spider daisies, and gold, silver, and black geometric metal spheres. Stuffed animals decked out in tuxedos brought out the party animal in everyone. The tables were finished off with mirrored block letters spelling “Mr. Cotton” on one banquet table and “Baby Love” on the other. The space was then dotted with oversized balloons filled with pearl and champagne confetti and garnished with mirrored garland and tassel garland.
Guests were welcomed with blooming champagne cocktails, and a champagne bottle was used for guest sign-in. Gold mirrored acrylic art deco place cards welcomed guests to their seats and were placed atop dinner napkins with the printed menu. After brunch was served, the ladies were invited to participate in a signature Exquisitely Dunn baby shower activity. For this event, onesies were customized with suspenders and bowties. The completed onesies were then hung on a pint-sized valet. Before leaving, everyone enjoyed a slice of cake (white almond or chocolate ganache), and macarons (champagne or fig & goat cheese). A perfect finish to a beautiful afternoon!
